08-12-2009 / New Prices For Apartments In Moscow

Built in 2000, the approximately 300-square-metre apartment is selling for some $48,000 a square metre. A further five of the country's 10 most expensive abodes are located in the same neighbourhood, with four of them to be found on Molochny Pereulok just one block away.

All of this should come as no surprise, as Ulitsa Ostozhenka was recently named as one of the top 10 most expensive residential streets in the world by Britain's Wealth Bulletin magazine. Per square metre of housing, Ostozhenka came in at 9th place this year, down from 6th spot last year. The average price per square metre for Ostozhenka is listed at $35,000, placing it well ahead of the 10th place holder, Wolseley Road in Point Piper, Australia, where you would have to slum it for a lowly $28,000 a square metre. The world's most expensive street was named as Avenue Princesse Grace in Monaco at $120,000 a square metre.

Russia's most expensive lodgings are to be found on Pozharsky Pereulok in Moscow, according to a new survey conducted by Forbesrussia.ru in conjunction with Neprosta.ru.

The small lane coming off Ulitsa Ostozhenka - otherwise known as the "Golden Mile" - is home to a seven-storey brick building at No. 11, which contains the top-flight flat.
